A Welwyn Garden City singer will appear on Britain’s Got Talent tonight, and will learn if he and his family has progressed to semi-finals.

Phil Neale, 24, performed with his dad Laurie, 59, and brothers James, 28, and Dan, 26, who still live in Birmingham, in front of an audience for the first time, delivering a heartfelt rendition of The Everly Brothers hit ‘When will I be loved’.

After three years of asking, Phil and his brothers were eventually persuaded to audition with dad Laurie.

Their father suffered a heart attack in 2005, and decided it was time to chase his dream of singing with the help of his sons.

Speaking with the Welwyn Hatfield Times about the group’s dream audition, Phil said: “It was incredible, the first time we performed as a four piece, we never considered ourselves singers but we did it to appease dad and the reaction on the day was amazing.”

When asked if The Neales were going to go all the way in the competition, he said: “We can’t help but dream, it’s a big prize and it would absolutely phenomenal if we won, it’s a long way off and it sounds cliché but this is an incredible journey, and we want to see how far we can take it.”

Phil, who is single and works in marketing, moved to Welwyn Garden City last September after he landed a job in Tesco’s marketing department and has settled in well in his new town.
