A Welwyn Garden City cancer survivor has raised more than £7,000 for the hospital that saved his life by organising golf days.
Robert Walford, who was successfully treated for bowel cancer two years ago at the Mount Veron Cancer Centre in Northwood, Middlesex decided to help raise money for its radiotherapy department at the centre.
His second charity contest, which attracted competitors to the Welwyn Garden City Golf Club last month, pushed the total over the £7,000 mark,
It was supported mainly by friends and colleagues of Mr Walford, who works in the oil and gas industry.
Overall winner Paul Perry of Yokogawa Marex was presented with a trophy by Jagdeep Kudhail, radiotherapy services manager, who revealed the money would provide an immobilisation board for prostate cancer patients.
