The Welwyn Garden City supermarket has announced its new charity to support for 2018 to 2019, chosen by popular vote.
Over two weeks in June, customers were given the chance to vote in store and online, with SPACE receiving the most votes.
SPACE support parents and carers of children and young people on the autistic spectrum, or with ADHD and related conditions.
Store manager Andy Smith said: “We’re really excited to be working with SPACE to support such a fantastic cause.
“Everyone at the Welwyn Garden City Store is looking forward to working together for a successful partnership.”
Susanna Mateu, coordinator at SPACE, told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “We are over the moon!
“The local community has supported us immensely with their votes.
“We are very humble and would like to say a big thank you to everyone.
“Regarding the funds, we haven’t got any final plans yet as we didn’t know we would be the winners.
“However, we will continue running our monthly support groups for parents and carers in Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield, and we will also be organising other events.”
The coordinators at SPACE are also celebrating a £1,000 donation from the supermarket in June.
Sainsbury’s local charity scheme is now entering its tenth year.
