PIZZA Hut in WGC town centre could close down and move to Hatfield - a location where it recently shut up shop.
That's according to a spokesman for the chain, who said bosses were "evaluating" whether or not to leave Howardsgate.
The potential switch to Hatfield has been mooted just six months after Pizza Hut closed its restaurant in Wellfield Road.
The spokesman said: "We are continually evaluating the location of our restaurants to ensure they are in the best possible areas to meet consumer demand."
He added: "With that in mind, we would consider selling our restaurant in WGC, although we have no plans to close the restaurant unless a suitable buyer is found. "This in turn would allow us to relocate to an out-of-town facility, and we are interested in finding a suitable location in the Hatfield area.
"In this event, all team members would be offered positions at one of our other restaurants in the area."
When asked why Pizza Hut had moved out of Hatfield in the first place, the spokesman added: "Because of the changing business model and changing consumer demand - Pizza Hut, and consumers, both prefer out-of-town locations at the moment."
Mark Boringdon, chairman of the Welwyn Hatfield Chamber of Commerce, spoke about the possible move.
