UNIVERSITY of Hertfordshire bosses have apologised after it was used as an election office for an independent candidate.
Employee Barry Cross declared the College Lane campus as the home to the Keep the NHS Public campaign, which put forward independent candidate Tony Wickenden in the county council election.
But the university prides its self in being apolitical.
A spokeswoman said: "'As soon as we were made aware of the issue, we spoke to Barry Cross who immediately withdrew the information and apologised to everyone concerned.
"The candidates who made us aware of the situation were satisfied with this outcome and felt we handled it appropriately.
