THIS was the dramatic scene in Hatfield this lunchtime (Wednesday) after the air ambulance was called to a road accident.
The helicopter landed in St Albans Road East after a cyclist was in collision with a Nissan Qashqai 4x4 at the junction of Beaconsfield Road at about 12.50pm.
A police officer at the scene told the WHT it was a "serious" accident.
Eyewitness Casey Kennelly, from Hatfield, said: "It was quite a nasty incident. It looked like he was in a bad way."
The cyclist, a 51-year-old man, was rushed to Queen's Hospital, Romford, in the air ambulance.
The driver of the Nissan, a 64-year-old woman, was unhurt.
Beaconsfield Road is still closed with emergency services at the scene.
