GOOD weather helped a village day get off to a great start on Saturday.
A parade through the streets of Codicote kicked off proceedings with dancers, schoolchildren, majorettes and even a tank taking part.
Regulars from The Goat pub won best float by taking the Carnival, Carnival, Carnival theme and making it their own.
Charlie Unwin, chairman of the organising committee, said: "It went really well, the best for a long time."
Secretary Colin Argent agreed. He added: "We had some great acts in the arena ranging from a magic show through to maypole dancing from the school."
