Geoff Wright discovered the litter of young mammals surrounded by straw in Herns Lane.
His initial reaction was they had been dumped - a fear confirmed when he took them to be re-homed at a rescue sanctuary in Luton.
And there he discovered that the Garden City was a hotspot for ferret dumping.
