A NEW gallery has opened in Potters Bar, with the promise of making art accessible to people of all ages, and all levels of ability.
Art & Escape opened the doors to its new gallery in Barnet Road this week with a Champagne reception, attended by artists, painters and Hertsmere borough councillors.
Nikki Martin, who runs the gallery along with her partner Stuart McAlpine Miller, an artist of some 25 years, said: "The night was fantastic and we had a really good turnout.
"We plan to bring the West End to Hertfordshire with a Contemporary Art Gallery showcasing an exciting mix of works by both recent graduates and international artists - painters, sculptors, digital, mixed media and multi-media artists.
We hope to involve and develop a relationship with schools and organisations allowing access to art which might otherwise seem out of reach. Our space will be approachable with a friendly atmosphere that welcomes all."
Art & Escape will be holding different art courses throughout the year. The first will be an eight-week life drawing class starting on October 22.
