A TAXI company has begun advertising in an unusual way – by projecting a 12ft high neon sign on to a gas tower. The Herts Taxi and Chauffeur Service based in Garden Court, off Tewin Road in WGC, has been shining the green lights at the neighbouring building since Friday.
The company’s radio controller Martin King has also run a laser company for the past 20 years and is looking at expanding it into advertising.
The 47-year-old told the WHT: “It’s something we are trialling for a week. We’ve had quite a few people notice it and a lot of interest from other taxi companies.”
Asked if permission was needed from Welwyn Hatfield Council or the gas company Mr King added: “It’s a grey area, we’re shining a light on to someone else’s building, during the hours of darkness. We’ve heard nothing from the council as yet.”
However one resident, from the Peartree area, said: “We’ll have no sky left soon. With that and the Lidl signs, it’s like Piccadilly Circus.”
