LIBERAL Democrat candidate Paul Zukowskyj has arrived at Campus West for the election count – and says he’d be happy finishing second.
Mr Zukowskyj had spent the day campaigning in the Handside ward of WGC – where Welwyn Hatfield Lib Dem leader Tony Skottowe is up for election at local level.
Of his chances on becoming the constituency MP, Mr Zukowskyj said: “My best result, realistically, would be for me to come second and to have a neighbouring Lib Dem MP in St Albans (Sandy Walkington), which I think puts us in a strong position to eventually win this seat at the next election.”
Alluding to the possibility of a hung parliament, Mr Zukowskyj added: “As long as the next election isn’t next month!”
