MAYOR of Welwyn Hatfield Howard Morgan has been made redundant from his day job as licensee of the Conservative social club.
The publican, who has worked at the bar in The Common, Hatfield, for 27 years, will be leaving the full-time role.
The 63-year-old told the WHT: “I will be working part-time but the post of resident steward will cease.”
The mayor added he will not, however, be made homeless by the decision.
Despite losing the on-site flat which goes with the job, he was able to move into his own property in Hatfield, which his daughter had been looking after.
He added: “I don’t really think it’s too bad, there are people a lot worse off than me.”
