An outdoor space in Welwyn Garden City is to be improved after a councillor invested thousands of pounds towards renovating her division.

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council will be investing a £2,000 locality budget grant from county councillor Sara Johnston to develop an open space in her division, in Haldens.

The funding will go towards installing football and basketball posts in the outdoor community space to improve health and wellbeing for local residents.

Cllr Johnston said: “I am delighted to be able to contribute to the renovation project in Haldens Park.

“It is a valuable open space but needs updating to offer local residents and particularly young people wider opportunities to have fun.

“I look forward to seeing the new equipment in use while walking my dog.”

The locality budget scheme has funded thousands of community projects since it was launched in 2009, supporting local good causes and making a real difference to people across Hertfordshire.
