A 108-year-old Hatfield woman was visited by the borough’s mayor for her birthday last week.

Ivy Noble, who lives at Acacia Mews Care Home in Hatfield, celebrated the big day on Tuesday.

Mayor councillor Pat Mabbott said: “To reach 108 is remarkable. Ivy has lived through two World Wars and seen all manner of political and technological change.

“She grew up in the Edwardian era at a time when the suffragette movement was growing in Britain.

“Ivy has witnessed so much of our country’s history, and I feel privileged to have met her and attended her birthday celebration.

“I’m sure the whole borough joins me in sending her our very best wishes.”
