Modern trains are coming to the route between Welwyn Garden City and London King’s Cross this summer, Great Northern has announced.
The trains, Class 377 Electrostars, will have air conditioning, automatic service announcements and the latest in accessibility features for disabled passengers. They are being released from Bedford to Brighton Thameslink route via St Albans, which is getting new Class 700 trains.
The Class 377 trains have been in service since 2009 and 2010, and will run on the Cambridge and Peterborough services to and from King’s Cross.
The changes are being made following an independent nationwide survey which showed rising passenger satisfaction with the Great Northern service.
Great Northern’s Passenger Service Director Keith Jipps said: “The report by Transport Focus has shown that, once again, passenger satisfaction has risen on Great Northern, which is testament to the hard work our staff put in every day, keeping trains clean and helping customers at stations.
