Welwyn Hatfield rail journeys disrupted by overhead wire problems

Great Northern has “strongly advised” some Welwyn Hatfield rail passengers to postpone their journeys until later.
Overhead wire problems at Cambridge are currently causing the disruption on the line to and from King’s Cross, causing delays of up to 30 minutes, or cancellations.
Overhead wires are managed by Network Rail.
The issue is expected to continue until around 7pm tonight (July 23).
Great Northern tweeted at 5.15pm: “You are strongly advised to take alternative routes via Liverpool Street or Tottenham Hale.”
Thameslink and Great Northern tickets will be accepted on:
• CrossCountry services between Cambridge, Ely and Peterborough;
• East Midlands Trains between Ely and Peterborough
• Greater Anglia services between London Liverpool Street, Cambridge and Ely
• London Underground on all reasonable routes
Welwyn Garden City woman Jenny Mechell tweeted to ask why the stopping service to and from Welwyn Garden City is delayed as a result.
“They start/stop at WGC so don’t go far enough to get held up in this but are STILL showing as delayed??? What other options are in place for these journeys????”
Updates to follow.
