Sir - Have residents thought about the implications of a parish council in Potters Bar?
A parish council can only discuss and make recommendations to the borough council on very minor policies. They can only discuss and give recommendations to the borough council.
This is being very well done at the moment by Potters Bar Society and Potters Bar in Focus! Why do we need another 'committee' that will, despite what people say, cost us money?
The parish council will have to be funded and maintain offices, stationary, postage, hiring of halls for meetings as well as councillor expenses - all this for an average of 50p a week per household!
This to me is just another layer of government that we can well do without.
Mrs Ann Daniell, Abingdon Place, Potters Bar.
