Sir - On Thursday, April 24 between 1805 and 1825, a single engined monoplane was observed by myself, my wife and my next door neighbour, performing aerobatics below 1,000ft, diving as low as 200 feet, over Salisbury Village and the Howe Dell School. This is strictly illegal. These flights began last summer, and I contacted the CAA who agreed that the performances, as described, broke the 1,000ft and the 500ft rules. They also informed me that two witnesses and the registration letters were required before they could do anything. The flights abated over the winter but have just started up again, Thursday's episode being the fifth or sixth so far.
On one occasion this year, I phoned Panshanger to ask if they had anyone flying, but was told, quite rudely, that they did not have anyone airborne. This was quite strange because the offending aircraft, when observed, always flies in the direction of Panshanger. My concerns are that 1, these stunts are performed in the same airspace used by Luton Airport, and 2, should there be a malfunction on the aircraft, a very nasty accident could happen.
An effort should be made to stop this irresponsible flying.
