SIR - I am writing concerning the parking situation (or lack of it!) at the QE2 Hospital. I have seen several letters in your paper but not one single letter from the QE2 itself.

I live in the Kingsley Court area and am completely fed up with hospital staff parking outside my house, opposite my drive, on bends, up kerbs all day long, from 8am in the morning until at least 6pm. Does the QE2 not provide parking permits for the hospital staff, if so why not?

Sometimes it is extremely difficult to even enter my drive as the cars are parked on both sides of the road, leaving little space for manoevering, also when we have visitors it is impossible for them to park near our house as the hospital staff have taken up every available space. Can I request that a representative from the hospital come and visit the Kingsley Court area any time between 8am and 6pm on a Monday to Friday and then again at the same time on a Saturday or Sunday to see the difference. It is totally unacceptable that nothing is being done regarding this situation.

I understand that it is not just my road that is affected by these selfish people and I sympathise with anyone who lives close to the hospital, I have seen similar parking in Beehive Lane with hospital staff parking inches away from vehicles to squeeze into any available space.

On the subject of inconsiderate parking, when is the Ascots Lane parking situation going to be sorted out, will it take a death before something is done? Recently on my return journey from work an HGV lorry was trying to get through all the cars that were double parked, as you can imagine this caused a huge tailback. What would have happened if an ambulance needed to get through?

Considering they are based off Ascots Lane the chances of this happening are extremely high. Does it cost more to paint a couple of yellow lines than it does to erect a row of wooden posts - maybe the highways agency can comment?

Is anything being done to resolve this situation, are the hospital going to reply to this letter or maybe the highways agency? I think not!
