Sir - At the meeting of the Free Trade Association, held recently at Hatfield Conservative Club, members voted to donate this year's charity collection of 300 to Hatfield's mayoral charities, which were, Macmillan nurses, Isabel Hospice and The Willow Foundation.

Mr Morgan, whose term of office as Hatfield Town mayor, has now finished served as a town councillor for a number of years, before receiving this accolade. But he has also served as the steward of the Hatfield Conservative Club for 25 years and is one of the founding members of our association. It was in recognition of these two factors that we were pleased to make this donation.

John Lewis, hon secretary,

Free Trade Association.
