Sir - In answer to Mr R Bailey's letter (WHT, November 19) re parking for the disabled... Last Wednesday morning, because all the parking spaces for disabled drivers were occupied, I too had to park in the main car park at the QE2 Hospital. My problem was not that I had to pay, but once I had found a space to park I then had to go and get a ticket - I can walk but my progress is slow and painful. Once I had got my ticket I then had to return to my car, then back again to the hospital and then once more back to my car.

I told the man in the car park attendants' cabin as I walked painfully by on my way to the hospital that I had parked my car in an unofficial space and that I had left my ticket and my Blue Badge in the car. I was worried that it might be clamped or even towed away. He then told me that if I took a form then although I had had to pay, I could get my money back! I explained that it wasn't the money - I would rather pay and be able to walk.

I hope that this helps anyone else who has a Blue Badge and finds themselves in this position in the future. You can park in an ordinary space in the main car park, and you can get your money back.
