Sir - While I have every sympathy for the residents living at the entrance to the Burrowfield industrial estate, I feel that the reason for their protestations on extra lorry movements are incorrect.
Our company has operated from 30 Burrowfields for the last 17 years and we hope that our relationship with our neighbours is good. Our drivers try to be courteous and understanding when leaving in the mornings and returning to our yard. We have come to the end of our lease at number 30 and are moving to 34. We have applied for extra vehicle movements, but the amount that I have seen quoted by your reporter Simon Wesson has not taken into account the closing of number 30. We most certainly will not be adding an extra 60 truck movements a day.
During our time in Burrowfield, we have heard several different rumours about how the estate would have improved traffic management. Some of these included making part of Burrowfield into a one way system, using South Burrowfield as the way out. I am sure that something along these lines would be a great improvement for everyone who uses the estate and would certainly ease the plight of the householders at the entrance of the estate.
