SIR - Grant Shapps may well be right when he says traffic flowed more freely at the Tesco roundabout when the lights failed (WHT, February 6).
But this ignores pedestrians and cyclists.
And ignore them is just what drivers did as they tackled the lights-free junction. Anyone not in a motor vehicle had no choice but to put their life on the line in order to cross the A414 - not an experience I would like to repeat.
