SIR - Grant Shapps recently invited us to sign a petition against the Government's reckless approach to the Commonswood Nature Reserve by possibly allowing a huge estate of houses to be built adjacent to it.
Grant, who is the Tory housing spokesman, was quoted in the Daily Telegraph as saying that a Tory Government would build more houses than this government and would provide incentives to local communities to accept them.
Hertfordshire is the most densely populated county in Britain, with six times the density of France and 20 times that of the USA.
In my opinion, our best strategy to avoid too many houses being built in our Green Belt is to join the CPRE, the Council for the Preservation of Rural England, who are dedicated to this aim.
