Sir - As the news continues to be revealed about the claims made by and paid to our MPs I am appalled. Claims for food and items such as sink plugs are unacceptable.
The worst must be claiming for a paid up mortgage. This is the one payment we KNOW we have paid off and it is great to celebrate the return of the house deeds when the property is registered.
I believe interest should be paid on all the false claims. Ten per cent should be suitable as that is the figure we are supposed to earn on our savings - though currently this is 0.19 per cent.
