Sir - We have just learned that Charles Nethercott of Nethercott Funeral Directors has offered to refurbish the War Memorial in South Mimms at no cost to Hertsmere Borough Council or the local community. The work will be undertaken in the autumn in time for the Remembrance Day Service on November 9.
We in The Royal British Legion would like to thank Mr Nethercott for his generous donation to South Mimms and his support in keeping alive the memory of those who gave their lives in service to their country.
In 2007 Mr Nethercott also donated two memorial tablets at the War Memorial Gardens in Potters Bar, which put the finishing touch to the refurbishment of the gardens there.
Once again many thanks Mr Nethercott on behalf of the people of Potters Bar and South Mimms.
Ron J Biscoe, chairman, Maureen Dalton, vice chairman, Potters Bar Royal British Legion.
