Sir - With grass newly cut and daffodils flowering our verges are looking lovely and really brighten our spirits after the long, cold winter. All that is, except those that are regularly parked on. These areas are, at best, hard brown earth and, at their worse, mud baths following rain.
Could we have a concentrated effort to stop vehicles parking on the grass verges please? Many drivers seem to think it is ok to park half on the road and half on the verge, why? In most cases there is no reason to do this as there is plenty of room to park normally at the roadside.
Let's all try to do our part in making Welwyn Hatfield look a better. If we can't enforce this then perhaps all verges should be fitted with wooden post fences and the council could make a start by erecting these when the problem is permanently visible.
