Sir - A recent experience with the plumbing trade has given a whole new meaning to the expression, "Plumbing the depths''.
Last Thursday, I had a faulty tap in the bathroom repaired. It turned out that the problem was a very minor one, requiring the replacement of a small washer in the tap. The whole operation lasted no more than 20 minutes at the very most. The charge for said washer and labour came to £50 - £5 for washer and £45 for labour.
