SIR - last week's WHT (March 26) you report as fact that the proposed Sainsbury's development is "exciting".

Don't you think that's rather up to your readers to decide?

Is it the WHT's policy for their reporters to report opinion as fact or did this just slip through?

Why, it almost sounds as if your organ has some vested interest in promoting this development.

Have you?

Mike Hyde, via email.

Editor's note: Yes of course we have a vested interest, as should everyone who wants to see WGC town centre thrive, not just survive.

As far as we are concerned this proposal can pave the way for a much-needed regeneration of that part of the town centre.

It will also mean the existing shopping areas will be consolidated on the correct side of the railway track with a strong triangle stretching from the new Sainsbury's, down to the Howard Centre and across to John Lewis.

I make no excuse for us being 'excited'.
