CLARE Joe Clare, aged 80, recently passed away at home in WGC. Leaves behind son, Anthony, and four grandsons. Attended Colfe’s Grammar School, Lewisham. Joined RN at 16. Served in Fleet Air Arm as aircraft electrical engineer. Multiple deployments on HMS Ark Royal. Attained rank CPO. Later joined Essex and Herts Police as comms technician. Lifelong keen runner. Best marathon: 2:18:43. Two times winner of London to Brighton. In retirement, served as a governor at Commonswood Primary and, following death of second wife Susan Hammond, frequent volunteer at Isabel Hospice. Love you, Dad. Service will be at 15:40 Friday 28th February at West Herts Crematorium, High Elms Lane, Garston, Watford, Hertfordshire, WD25 0JS. Memorial contributions to be made in lieu of flowers to the Isabel Hospice c/o JJ Burgess & Sons, 5 Cole Green Lane, Welwyn Garden City, AL7 3PP.
