Hatfield Swimming Club will be cheering on four of their stars as they battle for a place at the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics.

The British Swimming Championships are being held at the London Aquatic Centre from Tuesday but with the two showpiece events in the French capital just months away, the event is also doubling as Olympic trials for Team GB.

The Hatfield quartet who have qualified to compete are Ashley Ransome (100m breaststroke), James Woodward (100m and 200m butterfly) and Oliver Baskerville (200m backstroke).

Louise Fiddes, who was a Paralympian in 2021 and won silver and bronze in the S14 100m breaststroke and 200m individual medley, is back again too.

She will competing in five events including her two medal events. The others are the 100m and 200m freestyle and the 100m butterfly.

All are coached by Daniel Fogg, a 2012 Olympian and former British champion himself.

Three other Hatfield swimmers will be involved but competing for other clubs.

Shannon Stott is studying for a masters at Sheffield Hallam and is training with City of Sheffield during term time. She goes in the 100m and 200m butterfly as well as the 400m freestyle.

Caitlin Hartley is another student and will swim for the University of Bath in the 100m and 200m breaststroke.

Luke Turley, the 2022 Commonwealth Games bronze medalist in the 1500m, is at Bath Performance Centre and will go in the 200m, 400m and 800m freestyle.
