Oaklands Primary School in Welwyn is looking to enlist community members for governor positions.

Those who join the ranks of the governing body will help to support the school with its commitment to providing an 'excellent' primary school education experience.

The school's vision is to arm teachers with the necessary resources to maximise students' success.

These positions require enthusiastic volunteers, equipped with diverse skills, who are willing to engage in constructive dialogue.

Despite not being essential, experience in health and safety, safeguarding, or HR is considered favourable.

Headteacher Tom Hassan said: "Being a school governor is an excellent opportunity to be involved in the local community and to have a strategic influence on the life of a school.

"At Oaklands, the leadership team worked closely with governors in our journey to achieving a ‘Good’ Ofsted in July 2023.

"Governors play an important role as ‘critical friends’, with a strategic focus.

"Questions from governors have undoubtedly supported me in my role, helping me to consider decisions and policies from a fresh point of view."

The school encourages interested parties to contact the chair of governors, Elin Gillard, through her email at egillard@oaklands.herts.uk.
