Youngsters were shown inside a police van at a holiday club held in Hatfield.

Children attending the Birchwood Holiday Club enjoyed another fun visit from the police to learn more about the frontline heroes who are there to help them.

PC Darren Turner, PC Saajan Shah, and PCSO Bill McCaskie, from the Welwyn Hatfield Safer Neighbourhood Team, visited the club on Friday, August 4.

Whilst learning about the role of the police, the children were shown inside the officers’ van and they even got to test their own speediness by running against the speed board.

PC Darren Turner said: “We’ve previously visited the children at Birchwood Holiday Club and we’ve certainly noticed that the children are growing in confidence and feeling braver to approach us.

“Engaging with children at a young age is so important as there’s no predicting when you might need the police’s help. Building their trust early could mean the difference between the children coming to us for help or not.

“We really enjoyed our visit and would like to thank the club leaders for inviting us along.”
