Youngsters enjoyed the chance to sit in a police car at a community event held in Welwyn Garden City.

Officers from the Safer Neighbourhood Team attended the Woodhall Community Summer Fair on Friday, August 4 where they spent time engaging with local youngsters.

PCSOs Anne Devine, Katie Shakespeare and Amy Martin chatted to locals and gave out advice around crime prevention measures.

Younger attendees were also catered for with children offered the opportunity to sit in a police vehicle and try on the uniform.

PCSO Anne Devine said: “This was a really lovely event and we particularly enjoyed playing some fun games with the children!

"It’s so important that we take the time to build up their trust as this means they will be brave enough to seek police help should they ever need it. A lot of children cover the subject ‘People Who Help Us’ at school and it’s great to bring the subject to life for them.

“I’d like to say thank you to everybody who came along. Remember, you can let us know your thoughts on local policing at anytime by going to our community voice platform, echo.”
