The four-piece outfit – Derry Mensah, Andrew Merry, Charlie Healy and Ashford Campbell – will be appearing at the University of Hertfordshire venue on Monday, January 2, as part of the Forum’s New Year Fun Factor event.

The group, mentored by N-Dubz singer Tulisa Contostavlos, made a shock exit from the hit ITV1 show two weeks ago, after finishing last in the public vote.

The boys had impressed all four judges, and had been widely tipped to advance to the latter stages of the competition, with some even believing they would go all the way and become the first group to win The X Factor.

But it was far from plain sailing for the band during their time on the show. Original member Ashley Baptiste sensationally quit the band two days before the Halloween live show, with Ashford being drafted in from the already eliminated Nu Vibe to take his place.

After being voted off, judge Tulisa admitted the sudden line-up change could have played its part in the group’s exit.

Despite their disappointment, the band vowed to carry on – and visitors to the Forum Hertfordshire in January will be able to see for themselves what The X Factor Final will have been missing.

A Forum Hertfordshire spokeswoman said: “We were really surprised when The Risk were voted off The X Factor, as we thought they were great, so we’re delighted to have them at the Forum Hertfordshire for our New Year Fun Factor event.”

She added tickets were due to go on sale next Wednesday, November 23.
