Creatives behind this year’s 2018 Welwyn Hatfield Council pantomime are promising another magical show.

Aladdin will be the festive treat at the Hawthorne Theatre in Welwyn Garden City this Christmas, with tickets on sale now.

The panto will be brought to the CW Entertainment stage in December by the same team behind last year’s box office smash, Beauty and the Beast.

The show will be directed by Helen Crosse.

She told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “Aladdin is so much fun, full of high energy and great big characters.

“Get ready for an even bigger, better, more colourful panto, with some friendly faces returning from last year’s cast.”

One of those familiar faces will be Helen’s husband, Mike Totton.

He will once again pull on a variety of dresses as the panto Dame, this time Widow Twankey, after playing Dame Dolly in Beauty and the Beast.

Mike said: “Twankey’s one of my favourite Dames and I can’t wait to be back for Aladdin.

“Get ready for more fun and frolics!”

Having revived the WGC pantomime in recent years with hilarious productions of Beauty and the Beast and Dick Whittington, director Helen is looking forward to putting on Aladdin for Welwyn Hatfield audiences.

She said: “I’ve got some great ideas and can’t wait to start planning.

“I’m already looking at scripts, set and costume. It’s going to be a good one!”

Public performances of Aladdin will run at the Hawthorne Theatre at Campus West from Saturday, December 15 to Sunday, January 6, 2019.

School performances start from Wednesday, December 12.

As well as the regular family-friendly production, there will be an extra ‘blue panto’ performance this year.

Aladdin’s adult cousin, Aladdin... Rub Me, will be performed over three nights, from Thursday, December 27 to Saturday, December 29.

The over 18s panto has sold-out in recent years, so get your tickets quick before they all fly out of the box office on Aladdin’s magic carpet.

There is already limited availability for two of the three ‘blue’ performances.

• Tickets for Aladdin are available from the WGC venue’s website at www.cwentertainment.co.uk, by phone on 0300 303 9620, or at the box office.
