Comedy classical trio Pluck return to Hawthorne Theatre in Welwyn Garden City with The Titanic Show

Archant

A MUSICAL show by string trio Pluck about the Titanic sails into Welwyn Garden City next weekend on the 100th anniversary of the ocean liner’s sinking.

WHEN you think of music and the Titanic, that famous phrase ‘and the band played on’ springs to mind.

Well, that and Celine Dion, who just went on and on.

But, ignoring the Canadian songstress for a moment, just why did the Titanic’s band play on as the ship was sinking?

Nobody really knows what filled the days of those brave few before tragedy struck – so Pluck, the world’s funniest string trio, have made it up.

In their version of events, playing at the Hawthorne Theatre in WGC on Sunday, April 15 – on the very centenary of that dark event – sensitive lead violinist Wally and brutally sincere multi-instrumentalist W’Theodore are joined aboard the fated vessel by stowaway Roger, a strangely small yet enthusiastic young man.

But as they entertain the guests on board the boat, tensions build and it seems Roger may not be quite the man he claims to be.

Pluck brought their show Musical Arson to the Hawthorne Theatre last year and it proved to be an unqualified hit with music-lovers and comedy-fans, young and old, so this return visit will undoubtedly be popular.

Perfect for all the family, this new show features a real iceberg and one massive porthole, blended with a melange of great music – and the biggest peanut you may ever see!

Directed by Cal McCrystal, who has worked with Cirque du Soleil and The Mighty Boosh, Pluck gives us a masterpiece of comedic musical mayhem, with just a touch of pathos.

And no Celine Dion. Guaranteed!

Tickets for The Titanic Show by Pluck at the Hawthorne Theatre cost £12 adults and £10 concessions.

The performance starts at 7.30pm.
