THE Friends Meeting House concert in Welwyn Garden City this Sunday features music by Viennese composer Hans Gál.
The Handside Lane venue welcomes back Nicholas Selo, who returns with his fellow musicians having previously delighted audiences as Intermezzo.
This time they are performing as the Ensemble Hans Gál, emphasising the joys of this unjustly neglected composer, who was born in Vienna, but fled the Nazis and spent the rest of his life in Britain, creating music until his death in 1987.
There is a personal aspect to this special concert, as Hans Gál’s daughter will be in attendance.
In a programme of music for flute, violin, viola and cello, the ensemble will perform a recital they are currently touring the country with, which will include music by Reicha and Mozart, as well as two trios by Gál himself.
Entry is free, and the collection afterwards will be in aid of the Hans Gál Society.
The concert starts at 6pm.
