SLAM Dunk 2012 organisers have announced another wave of bands set to play the festival in Hatfield and Leeds next month, including Watford hardcore punks Gallows.

The music festival returns to the University of Hertfordshire’s College Lane campus on Sunday, May 27.

And joining the Slam Dunk party is a band that everybody on the punk scene has been talking about since their reformed line-up – minus frontman Frank Carter – appeared late last year.

Gallows will be making their first festival appearance at this year’s Slam Dunk, which takes place at Leeds University on May 26, a day before moving south to the Forum Hertfordshire in Hatfield.

Playing for only the third time since former Alexisonfire guitarist/singer Wade MacNeil joined the band, Gallows will hit the stage with an undoubtedly mindblowing set featuring tracks from recent EP Death Is Birth.

After seeing the demise of their friends The King Blues, UK ska punk heroes Capdown have come out of retirement for a second time to join this year’s Slam Dunk Festival.

Also confirmed are Random Hand, another of the UK’s finest ska punk bands.

Punk rock groups Sharks and Hildamay have also been added to the SDF12 bill.

Already announced for Slam Dunk Wales, Straight Lines will also play the main weekend festival in Leeds and Hertfordshire, as will Misser, who are made up of members from Transit and This Time Next Year.

Keen to support fresh and upcoming talent, Slam Dunk have also added Acoda and Our Time Down Here to the poster.

Attack! Attack!/Dopamine frontman Neil Starr will be playing his new solo material on the acoustic stage.

Taking Back Sunday will headline the main stage at Slam Dunk, with Welsh bands The Blackout and Funeral for a Friend also playing.

Also confirmed are the likes of Architects, Motion City Soundtrack, Cancer Bats, Mayday Parade and Charlie Simpson.

Tickets for Slam Dunk South in Hatfield cost £32.50, or £36 with 18 plus after party.

Slam Dunk North in Leeds is about to sell out.
