SINGER and multi-talented instrumentalist Joe Brown returns to the Alban Arena in St Albans for a live concert next month.

WITH his spiky hairstyle, distinctive voice and cheerful personality, rock ‘n’ roll pioneer Joe Brown is still playing live after more than five decades in the business.

Having started out in a skiffle group as a teenager, Joe toured in the early 1960s alongside Del Shannon, Dion and a then up-and-coming band called The Beatles.

He also found himself backing the likes of Gene Vincent, Billy Fury and Johnny Cash.

Fifty years on, Joe and his formidable five-piece band are back on the road again.

And they will be stopping by the Alban Arena in St Albans on Sunday, February 26 as part of a 30-date UK tour to coincide with a new album, which features both Joe’s son Pete, a regular in his band, and his daughter Sam and her ukulele orchestra.

During his career, multi-instrumentalist Joe has influenced many – Jeff Beck, Mark Knopfler and George Harrison to name but a few – and is the only British guitar giant to have spanned five decades of music, from his early roots in skiffle to his current musical set featuring timeless classics, folk, gospel, rockabilly, country and rock ‘n’ roll.

He plays a variety of instruments from banjo to ukulele – he now has his own signature brand of ukes – guitar to violin.

Tickets to see Joe Brown live in St Albans cost £23 and £21.
