The second Slam Dunk Festival 2018 line-up announcement has been made – with a second headliner confirmed for next year’s event in Hatfield.

Organisers have revealed the second wave of bands playing the touring pop punk, ska punk, metalcore and alternative rock festival in Hatfield on Sunday, May 27.

Good Charlotte will join the bill as the festival’s 2018 co-headliner with the previously announced Jimmy Eat World.

Both groups will be making their Slam Dunk debuts over the May Bank Holiday weekend.

Led by the Madden brothers, Benji and Joel, Maryland rockers Good Charlotte are perhaps best known for hit single Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.

Also playing Slam Dunk next year will be PVRIS, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Creeper, Thursday in a UK reunion show exclusive, Every Time I Die, Crown The Empire, Real Friends and Knuckle Puck.

Frank Carter said: “I cannot wait to play Slam Dunk.

“This has been an incredible couple of years for us, and I can’t think of a better way to start our festival season in 2018 than showing up and absolutely dominating at Slam Dunk.

“Get ready – we’ll see you in the Snake pit!”

PVRIS will be returning to the award-winning festival, having graced the main stage in Hatfield two years ago.

In 2015, the Massachusetts three-piece were originally booked for the new bands stage but were soon upgraded to the main stage due to their sudden rise in popularity.

Now they return in 2018 to be one of the festival’s biggest artists.

The latest additions are set to join Jimmy Eat World, Taking Back Sunday, Sleeping With Sirens, Four Year Strong, State Champs and St Albans band Trash Boat at Slam Dunk Festival South’s new location in the grounds of Hertfordshire stately home Hatfield House.

After a number of years at the University of Hertfordshire’s College Lane Campus, the festival will move across town – and double in size – at a new site in Hatfield Park.

After its most successful year to date in 2017, Slam Dunk Festival has been crowned the Best Metropolitan Festival at the UK Festival Awards.

Festival director Ben Ray said: “I’m very happy to win this award of course.

“The event that we put on is very unique, with each of the three metropolitan sites offering something different.

“The fenced off festival site built in a city centre in Leeds, the only multi-stage music festival to be held on the NEC complex, and I’m glad after eight years on the university campus in Hatfield we could win the award for them the final time there.”

As well as the Hatfield leg on May 27, the festival will also visit its spiritual home in Leeds’ Millennium Square for Slam Dunk North on Saturday, May 26 and Birmingham NEC on Spring May Bank Holiday Monday, May 28 for Slam Dunk Festival Midlands.

Tickets are on sale now and are available from http://slamdunkmusic.com/

They cost £49, or £55 including the afterparty, all subject to booking fees.
