EARLY bird tickets for new Hertfordshire music festival Folkstock 2013 go on sale next weekend.
The family-friendly open-air concert is set to take place at Aldenham Country Park, Elstree, near Borehamwood, on Saturday, September 21.
A range of discounted ticket prices for adults, students, and groups of adults and children for the alt, blues, rock, roots, folk and acoustic showcase will go on sale from Saturday.
Folkstock tickets for under fives will be free for a limited period.
Early bird tickets will be approximately 25 per cent cheaper than regular priced ones, and will be available via the website www.folkstockartsfoundation.com
Adult tickets cost £20 – rising to £25 when early bird tickets are sold out.
A family pass for two adults and two children will be priced £45, rising to £55.
A ticket for one adult and two children costs £25, rising to £30.
Students over 16 pay £10, rising to £12, while it is free for under-5s during the early bird period.
Children age five to 15 pay £5 during the early bird phase, before rising to £6.
“Please don’t miss out on your chance to get cheap tickets for the event in the autumn,” said Helen Meissner, MD of festival promoter Folkstock Arts Foundation.
“Many of these events sell out quickly and I would hate for local people to expect to come and then find that there are no tickets available on the day.
“It is going to be what is known as a ‘boutique’ event, with only 5,000 people, so it will be intimate and friendly.
“It will be properly stewarded and we will create a safe, spacious environment which has a variety of activities for all ages. Also the fact that it is being held at popular visitor attraction, Aldenham Country Park, means that there’s plenty for families to do if they need a break from the festival.”
Helen, who helped launch Hertfordshire girl group The Folk, added: “We are not expecting to be selling tickets on the gate and so they will have to be bought in advance and the best thing is for people to take advantage of the cheaper early bird priced ones, which go on sale on Saturday, May 25.
“We are also offering free rain ponchos to the first 1,000 people through the gate in the case of poor weather.”
Tickets are available for the festival from the website www.folkstockfestival.com

Local musicians are also invited to a Folkstock early bird ticket launch event being held on Saturday, May 25 at Church Farm, Ardeley.
Celebrated singer-songwriter Reg Meuross will be there, effectively lighting the touch paper at the first Under the Stars mini festival with a songwriting masterclass.
This starts at 6pm and includes an intimate performance by Reg for the Folkstock Arts Foundation.
“We are honoured that Reg Meuross is hosting this fabulous event for musicians of all ages and stages of their songwriting journey,” said Helen Meissner.
“It will be the first time in five years that Reg has been to Hertfordshire and we intend to give him a warm welcome and show him some of our super local talent, which will include Said the Maiden, Flaming June and The Folk, among others.”
After the Masterclass, which will be held under cover, there’s singing and chatting round the camp fire.
Visitors are welcome to bring picnics/portable barbecues and beverages, and if you arrive before 6pm you can stock up on meats and provisions from the on-site farm shop.
Attendees can set up their tents in genuine wild camping conditions from 4pm.
Tickets for the Masterclass are £5 (musicians) and £10 (non musicians) and can be reserved by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
Under-18s need to be accompained by an adult over 21.
Special gold printed tickets will also be available to buy for the festival and all the various price ranges are on the website.
Tickets bought over the internet will be done via Paypal and the receipt will be exchanged for a wristband at the gate on the day. There will be no physical tickets mailed out.
