A concert due to take place in Welwyn Garden City this weekend is being recorded by the BBC for future broadcast.

The Dan Casimir Trio plays Herts Jazz Club at CW Entertainment in The Campus this Sunday night.

Featuring Dan Casimir on bass, Sarah Tandy on piano and Olly Sarkar on drums, the gig is scheduled to be recorded by the BBC for its Radio 3 Jazz Now programme.

Award-winning bassist and composer Casimir has become a regular fixture within the UK jazz scene, providing his heavyweight, upright sound for the likes of Julian Joseph, Jason Rebello, Jean Toussaint, Lonnie Liston Smith, Ashley Henry, Camilla George and Nubya Garcia.

The Musicians’ Company recently awarded him the Young Jazz Musician Award 2016-2017, which spurred him on to recording his EP Escapee.

Sunday’s gig in Screen 2 of the Garden City Cinema/Hawthorne Theatre entertainment venue starts at 7.30pm.

Advance tickets cost £5 students, £10 members, £12 concessions and £13 full.

Walk-ups are £7 students, £11 members, £14 concessions and £15 full.
