After confirming 28 acts on Monday, organisers have added another batch of comedians for the three-day rock spectacular taking place in the grounds of the Hertfordshire stately home from Friday, July 8 to Sunday, July 10.

A posting on the festival’s official Facebook page earlier today said the next announcement would be coming “this afternoon”.

And just minutes ago, Sean Hughes was confirmed on the festival’s website as the Bohemia stage comedy headliner for the Sunday afternoon.

The youngest ever Perrier Award winner also appeared at the UK leg of the international touring festival last year.

Former smuggler and author Howard Marks will deliver the Sunday spoken word sermon on the Bohemia stage, a role fulfilled by Henry Rollins last summer.

Others added to the Sonisphere Knebworth line-up include cult comedian Brendon Burns, Irish jester Andrew Maxwell, Tiffany Stevenson, Nick Helm and Jim Smallman.

Former Never Mind the Buzzcocks team captain and actor Bill Bailey was previously named as the Saturn arena headliner for the Sunday night, performing before Slipknot close the festival’s main stage activities on the opposite Apollo stage.

Other comedians confirmed for Knebworth include Jackass star Steve-O and Jarred Christmas.

Thrash metal’s Big 4 of Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth will rock the main Apollo stage on the Friday, with the music starting earlier than last year at around 3pm.

Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro headline on the Saturday night.
