BOB Geldof will be performing in St Albans this weekend.
THE man behind number one hits Rat Trap and I Don’t Like Mondays and the mastermind behind Live Aid will be appearing at the Alban Arena.
Performing tracks from his new studio album How To Compose Popular Songs That Will Sell and the hits of The Boomtown Rats, Bob Geldof appears at the St Albans venue in his first theatre tour in more than three years on Saturday, November 19.
The Irish singer, songwriter, author, occasional actor and political activist rose to prominence as the frontman of the Irish rock band The Boomtown Rats in the late 1970s and early 1980s alongside the punk rock movement.
The band enjoyed major hits with songs such as Like Clockwork, She’s So Modern, Diamond Smiles, Rat Trap and I Don’t like Mondays – the latter still a regular tune played throughout the week on Knebworth-based radio station Jack FM.
Geldof also co-wrote Do They Know It’s Christmas? – one of the best selling singles of all time – helped organise Live Aid and was subsequently knighted, at the age of 34, for his efforts.
Tickets for his St Albans date later this month cost £25 and are available from the Alban Arena box office on 01727 844488.
