WHEN it comes to having a right royal knees-up, Hertfordshire certainly knows how to party.
For once again, the county has been crowned the street party capital of the UK.
Just like for last year’s Royal Wedding, residents of Hertfordshire have applied for more road closures than anywhere else in the country.
After the county council again waived normal road closure fees, there have been a total of 451 applications – 34 of those in Welwyn Hatfield, and 43 in Hertsmere.
Next best local authority was Essex with 283.
Cllr Stuart Pile, cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “Hertfordshire residents have shown over the years they know how to throw a party.
“We are delighted so many residents will be able to come together and celebrate the Jubilee with their family, friends and neighbours and remember these events for years to come.”
Over the course of the four-day Jubilee weekend, 167 parties will be held on Sunday, 172 on Monday and 85 on Tuesday.
Another 27 will be held before and after the main bank holiday weekend.
