TCHAIKOVSKY’S classical ballet Swan Lake glides onto the stage at the Alban Arena in St Albans this weekend.
The highly-acclaimed Vienna Festival Ballet returns to St Albans on Saturday with a 2.30pm performance.
Swan Lake is the one of the greatest and most popular ballets of all time, offering glamorous costumes and beautiful sets projecting colour and vitality to enhance the workings of the dancers, choreographers and the composer.
The story centres around Prince Siegfried. While out hunting, the Prince meets with a flock of swans led by the Swan Queen, who is under the evil spell of magician, Baron Rothbart.
He falls in love with the Queen and tries to free them all. However, the magician has a few tricks up his sleeve.
Will everything turn out well for the Prince and the Queen of the Swans?
The Vienna Festival Ballet was founded by artistic director Peter Mallek in 1980, and aims to showcase the great classical ballets at theatres nationwide, for audiences of all ages.
