Released on Monday, A Flash Flood of Colour is the group’s third full-length studio effort following last summer’s live CD/DVD package Live from Planet Earth, which was recorded at the quartet’s 2010 Christmas show at the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield.

Co-produced by the band and Dan Weller, of Young Guns and Gallows fame, in Bang Saray, Thailand, and London, the ‘proper’ follow-up to 2009’s acclaimed Common Dreads is expected to chart highly on Sunday.

And fans of the electro-tinged post-hardcore outfit will also have the opportunity to meet the band at HMV in St Albans on Friday (January 20).

Rou Reynolds (vocals/electronics), Rory Clewlow (guitar/backing vocals), Chris Batten (bass/vocals) and Rob Rolfe (drums) will be doing an in-store signing at the St Peter’s Street record shop from 5pm to promote the album.

Mixed in Vancouver, Canada, by Mike Fraser, who has previously worked with AC/DC, Metallica and Biffy Clyro, A Flash Flood Of Colour is an album about community, love and friendship, self-determination and self-respect.

Preceded by the sonic blast of first single Sssnakepit, the album throws up a dizzying, kaleidoscopic range of moods, tones and hues.

A snapshot of the modern age – of globalisation and recession, repression and protest, commerce and control, activism and engagement – its 11 tracks of adrenalised, beats-heavy punk rock/dubstep/hardcore metal/ ambient/techno noisecore are custom-made for the mosh-pit.

The record also features live favourite Arguing With Thermometers, a track BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe named as his ‘hottest record in the world’ on the breakfast show earlier this month.
