RHCP will play an outdoor gig at Knebworth on Saturday, June 23 and the American rock legends will now be joined by the Bonkers UK urban star.

Following last year’s sold-out arena tour, the Chilis are performing two massive open air shows in June – their only UK dates of 2012.

As well as legendary rock venue Knebworth Park, Red Hot Chili Peppers will appear at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light the following day.

Having taken the world by storm with smash hits such as Bonkers, Holiday and Dance Wiv Me featuring top UK producer Calvin Harris, Dizzee Rascal kept a relatively low profile in 2011, holing himself up in a studio in LA to write and record his highly-anticipated fifth studio album.

The phenomenal success of Tongue N’ Cheek secured Dizzee’s position as the UK’s leading grime and urban artist and saw him pave a trail in the US for fellow Brit-rappers to follow.

Dizzee’s return to the live arena in June will see him perform alongside one of the most successful rock acts of all time.

Red Hot Chili Peppers have sold more than 60 million albums, including five multi-platinum LPs, and won six Grammy Awards, including ‘Best Rock Album’ for Stadium Arcadium, ‘Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group’ for Dani California, ‘Best Rock Song’ for Scar Tissue and ‘Best Hard Rock Performance with Vocal’ for Give It Away.

Tickets to see RHCP at Knebworth cost £50. They are available from 0844 871 8803, 0871 989 1601, from www.kililive.com and SeeTickets.

* International touring festival Sonisphere will return to Knebworth Park in 2012 a fortnight after the RHCP gig.

No headliners have been confirmed yet for the three-day camping festival running from Friday, July 6 to Sunday, July 8.
