History came to life on the opening day of the 2018 Flying Legends Air Show at IWM Duxford on Saturday.

Members of living history group Sweatin’ out the Mission, who represent Second World War United States Army Air Forces ground crew, were photographed next to P-51 Mustang Trusty Rusty at the Flying Legends Air Show at Imperial War Museum Duxford.

The Flying Legends Air Show is famous the world over for its unique presentations of historic piston-engined aircraft in rare combinations and remarkable flying displays.

During the flying display visitors can see up to 50 historic aircraft take to the skies.

Highlights of this year’s flying programme include 14 Supermarine Spitfires, from the rare Mark I to Mark XVI models, five World War Two American P-51 Mustang fighter aircraft, four Hawker Hurricanes, B-17 Flying Fortress Sally B – the only flying B-17 in Europe – and the world’s only airworthy Bristol Blenheim.
